Every once in a while I feel like I need an extra dose of nutrients. Whether I had a weekend of eating unhealthy foods, drinking alcohol or I feel like I’m coming down with a cold… a detox green smoothie is always my go-to. It’s an easy way to pack in a lot of vitamins and nutrients into one meal. There are so many variations of green smoothies. Some smoothies are sweet and some are strictly vegetables, but all of them should do the trick of getting you back on track to health. This detox green smoothie is mostly vegetables, but has a subtle sweetness from the banana and apple. I find that this is the perfect balance of sweetness. If there isn’t any sweetness balancing out the bitterness of the vegetables, it can be quite unenjoyable to drink.
Ingredients
- 1 cup coconut water
- 1 large celery stock
- 1/4 cup cucumber
- 1 small apple, cored
- Large handful of spinach
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2 lemon
- ice
Directions
- Chop the celery, cucumber and apple into one inch cubes
- Add all ingredients, except ice, to a blender and blend on high until smooth, about 30 seconds
- Add a small handful of ice to the blender and blend again until there are no more ice chunks, about 20 seconds
- Serve in your favourite glass and enjoy!
